A-Level Maths‘Prepare for A2 Maths’ A-Level Maths

Due to the popularity of the first C1/C2 revision course, we are running ‘Prepare for A2 Maths’ course. The course will run for 5 weeks (Wednesdays from 2-4pm) starting on Wednesday 29th July at 2pm.

From 2:00pm-2:55pm, we will focus on preparing for the C3 module and from 3:00pm-3:55pm, we will look at C4.
The sessions are designed to revise and fine-tune skills that have been learnt throughout the AS year in the context of A2 material. We will look at common mistakes, work on problem solving and review things that many students forget or do not know at all.

Wednesdays: 29th July, 5th, 12th, 19th, 26th August

Session 1: 2:00pm-2:55pm – Prepare for C3
Session 2: 3:00pm-3:55pm – Prepare for C4

Completed so far: Wednesday 29th July – Session 1, Session 2.

The sessions are self-contained so if you miss one, you can participate the following week as it will cover a new topic. Or perhaps you can only make it to a few sessions in total because of your holidays. The material will also be made available here on this website for missed days.

Each session (55 minutes) is charged at £9. You can pay in cash on the day or you can pay online in advance.

Our first A-Level Maths revision course has now finished and due to its success and popular demand for future courses, we will be running an A2 Preparation Summer course as well as regular sessions running throughout the year as of September 2015.

Here is what we did preparing for the C1 and C2 exams….

Session 1: 5:15pm-6:30pm – Drop-in
Session 2: 6:45pm-8:00pm – C1/C2 Revision Course

Room number: C2, English Block
St Peter’s Catholic School,
Horseshoe Lane East, Guildford, Surrey GU1 2TL

Material and tools were provided on the day and sessions might include a review, overview of current topic, a fun interactive element, exam question practice and a test to monitor course progress to date.

Course2The review included a brief recap of topics studied to date and students are given the opportunity to ask any questions on the material they have been given so far. The new topic will be introduced, and typical exam questions and need-to-know facts were shared so that students can successfully complete common exam problems. Students will also be provided with a pack of collated past exam questions for that particular topic area for practice during the session and at home. The session might conclude with a test, assessing students on their exam ability and knowledge of the topics studied on the course to date.

Course1The tests were designed to give our students the opportunity to see how they perform in exam conditions and determine their level of recall and knowledge application under pressure. Tests, when taken, were marked and returned in the following session. Sessions were relaxed and informal and students generally feel comfortable to ask questions throughout. These sessions were run by Dr. Natalie Douglas of the University of Surrey. Find out more about Natalie.
