“Prepare for A2 Maths” – Summer Course, Weds 2pm
Wednesdays: 29th July, 5th, 12th, 19th, 26th August
Session 1: 2:00pm-2:55pm – Prepare for C3
Session 2: 3:00pm-3:55pm – Prepare for C4
The sessions are self-contained so if you miss one, you can participate the following week as it will cover a new topic. Or perhaps you can only make it to a few sessions in total because of your holidays. The material will also be made available here on this website for missed days.
Each session (55 minutes) is charged at £9. You can pay in cash on the day or you can pay online here in advance. If you want to attend both Wednesday sessions and you are paying online then set the quantity to 2.
We are currently offering a “Prepare for A2 Maths” Summer course for students who have completed the first year of their Maths A-Level and are due to start their second year in September. The course runs on Wednesday afternoon at 2:00pm for 5 weeks beginning on the 29th July 2015. There are 2 sessions every Wednesday – from 2:00pm-2:55pm we will prepare for the C3 module and from 3:00pm-3:55pm we will look at C4. Each session (55 minutes) is charged at £9 per person. We are aware that students will have holidays and other commitments arranged for over the summer and so the course has been designed so that students can pick and choose which sessions they would like to attend.
Throughout the duration of the ‘Prepare for A2 Maths” summer course, students will be exposed to questions that students should be able to tackle at this stage but are commonly found difficult, they will be encouraged to explore the logic behind why they do various calculations in maths and their problem solving skills will be enhanced. This is all done in the context of the C3 and C4 modules. They will obtain a head-start for their second year of Maths having practiced various necessary skills and in September we will be offering support classes for the C3 and C4 module. During these classes we aim to build knowledge and retention of C3 and C4 topics and have regular exam practice.
The course will be delivered and coordinated by Dr. Natalie Douglas of the University of Surrey. Natalie is a part-time teaching fellow at the University and has also been a private Maths tutor, teaching students of all ages in Guildford and its surrounding areas, for the last 5 years.
